Katie Todd left audience members stunned…Her highly emotive songs about innocence, etc…were driven by an inner intensity that I have rarely witnessed. ”

ABOUT KATIE

Born and raised in Chicago, IL, Katie started studying classical piano when she was 4 years old. Now she's shared the stage with such music luminaries as Jewel, Steve Winwood, 10,000 Maniacs, Sarah McLachlan, Patti LaBelle, Huey Lewis and The News.

From 2002 to 2015 Katie made 4 full-length original music studio albums. Those records, “Changing Faces,” “Mumbled Speech,” “Make Some Time For Waisting,” and “Closer” all received rave reviews in midwest journals. The Katie Todd Band played dozens of sold-out shows in Chicago and surrounding areas and many would have lines of people waiting to say “Hi” and get Katie's autograph.

Now, in 2024, Katie is focusing on the kids and their caregivers with the release of “Katie Todd: Aminals,” a full-length album featuring 10 new songs, each of which tells the story of a different animal!

STORY OF “AMINALS”

From Katie:

A couple of years ago my mom presented me with a challenge. She, being the writer and intuitive mom that she is, saw that I was missing a creative outlet in my life. It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day with 4 kiddos under 15, and I simply didn’t feel like I had the time.

When 2020 hit and time slowed down, my mom called me up one morning and said, “Katie, I have a challenge for you. I’m going to give you an animal of the week and you need to create a song for each one.”

'Hmmm…. actually, this could be really fun,” I thought. I then contacted my longtime buddy and bandmate Blair Holmes and explained I wanted to create an album of animal songs for children. And I wanted the adults to NOT have to plug their ears while their children listen to it.

Two years and ten songs later, “Aminals” was born. I hope you like it. Thank you for listening! It was fun to not only be able to accept my mom's musical challenge, but to include my kids on a few of the songs!
